Dr. Careen Fletcher, DMD
General Dentist
Dr. Careen Fletcher didn’t accidentally end up in a profession centered around taking care of people. As the oldest of three sisters, she got an early start. In fact, caring for others came easily to her long before dentistry ever entered the picture, and that instinct still shapes the way she practices today.
At Park Slope Dental Arts, Dr. Fletcher is known for creating an atmosphere that feels relaxed, welcoming, and easy to talk in. Patients often describe her as warm, attentive, and reassuring, even for those who haven’t always felt comfortable going to the dentist in the past.
Dr. Fletcher understands that many adults walk into dental appointments carrying years of anxiety, avoidance, or bad experiences with them. Her approach is never to shame or lecture people for that. Instead, she focuses on helping them feel safe moving forward from wherever they began.
A Background Rooted in Caregiving
Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, young Dr. Fletcher moved to New York City at age 16 and has considered Brooklyn home ever since.
She earned her dental degree from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine before completing her residency training at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, where she got first-hand experience in the operating and emergency rooms.
Dr. Fletcher continues pursuing ongoing education in modern restorative and preventive dentistry while staying focused on what matters most to her clinically: helping patients maintain healthy smiles in ways that feel realistic and sustainable.
Her treatment experience includes:
- Preventive dentistry
- Restorative dentistry
- Dental cleanings
- Comprehensive dental exams
- Emergency dental care
- Oral health maintenance
- Family dental care
- Invisalign® certification
No Judgment. No Pressure.
Dr. Fletcher believes patients deserve honesty without pressure, and guidance without feeling overwhelmed. Some people come in every six months like clockwork. Others have avoided the dentist for years and feel embarrassed even scheduling the appointment. Either way, her goal is to help them feel at home so they’re more comfortable with consistent dental care.
With a gentle touch and warm smile, her kind but straightforward communication style tends to resonate with patients who want someone calm, attentive, and trustworthy in the room with them.
The Kind of Office She’d Want for Her Own Family
One reason Dr. Fletcher enjoys practicing here at Park Slope Dental Arts is because our office feels collaborative and technology-forward without losing its neighborhood personality. Patients are able to access multiple specialties under one roof while still feeling like they are visiting people who actually know them, because we do! That unique combination matters to Dr. Fletcher and her patients.
Whether someone needs routine preventive care or more involved treatment involving specialists within the practice, she values being part of a team that approaches dentistry in a modern, connected, and patient-centered way.
